I formulated RevitaBite and I'm not going to tell you it's risk-free, because nothing is. The side effect profile is extremely favorable — here's the honest version so you can make an informed choice.
Ingredient safety profiles
Nano-hydroxyapatite. The mineral your enamel is already made of. The body recognizes it as self. Japan has used it as an approved cavity-preventive ingredient since 1993 with a clean safety record. No known systemic side effects at oral-care doses. If you swallow it, nothing happens — it's calcium phosphate.
Xylitol. Safe and beneficial for humans. One caveat: xylitol is highly toxic to dogs. If you have dogs, keep your gum inaccessible. For humans, the main side effect is a laxative effect at very high doses (50+ grams a day). A few pieces of gum doesn't come close.
MCT oil. The amount in a piece of gum is small. No safety concerns.
Natural flavors and gum base. We use a natural chicle-based gum base, not synthetic plastic polymers.
Actual side effects to know about
1. Jaw soreness from over-chewing. Most common complaint, not unique to RevitaBite. If you have TMJ issues, talk to your dentist before making gum a daily habit. For healthy jaws, 3–5 pieces a day is fine.
2. Temporary digestive adjustment to xylitol. Rare, only with high intake. If sensitive, ease in with 1–2 pieces a day for the first week.
3. Allergies. Extremely rare but possible with any ingested product. Check the full ingredient list if you have known food allergies.
4. Keep away from dogs. Worth repeating. Xylitol is toxic to dogs even in small amounts.
Who should talk to a dentist first?
Anyone with active TMJ pain, patients with a diagnosed allergy to any ingredient, and pregnant patients who want to confirm with their OB.
Who can use it freely?
Healthy adults, teens 12+, patients with sensitivity, patients avoiding fluoride. The overwhelming majority of patients fall into this category.
The bottom line
"Side effects" is the wrong frame for most people. Better frame: a low-risk intervention with meaningful upside for enamel and cavity prevention.
